Great Snowshoeing trails and rentals too!
We did Cowboy Cabin and Valley View trails. They were well groomed and had good amount of snow. Valley View trail has the best views among these two, and Cowboy Cabin trail is relatively flat.
Trails on the south side had more dirt on them than snow.
I was simply wowed by Galena’s stunning, perfectly groomed trails. I’ve Nordic skied in a lot of places, but these trails truly impressed me. Not only are the trails wonderful, the lodge is delightful with a wood burning fire, comfy couches and delicious food and drinks. Plus, the staff is super kind and welcoming. Such a delight to ski here.
Rented snowshoes and poles for a reasonable price but you must rent 12 hours in advance. Their snowshoes are very easy to put on and take off. I've rented snow shoes from other organizations and it took longer to put on and take off. The snowshoeing paths were narrow. I am a beginner but my friend I went with is advanced, and from back east, she said they are too narrow compared to back east. It was a gorgeous day of snowshoeing! We had a really good workout. We ended the afternoon with lunch in the lodge. I had a delicious Cuban sandwich, warm spirits and an almond flour chocolate chip cookie 😋. I hope to make this an annual New Year's Eve activity with family and friends!
This place is great, and I really wish I would’ve had more time to spend at it. We did the guided ranger snowshoe hike this morning, which was beautiful. It looks like the cross-country trails are beautiful as well. So a bunch of wildlife tracks, a few animals, and learned so much about the history of the area. And there’s so many beautiful mountain views. And amazing snow. The only thing I ask, is that you please establish some kind of program so that your trail markers don’t get grown into the trees. Saw numerous trees along the creek where the trees had been allowed to grow into the trail markers and were weeping sap, and with having learned about all the stress that those trees are underage just really sad to see that.
Galena Lodge was one of our favorite places in Idaho. We skied and mountain biked all the time. Don Bars are my favorite. Pretty much anything on the menu will knock your socks off. Make sure to check out a loaner dog. The yurts are amazing and well cared for. The trails are out of this world. Grooming is fantastic. We were married in Senate Meadows. The Galena staff did an amazing job, the food was great, and we couldn't have asked for anything better.

Galena Lodge is a Mecca of good food and fun for all sorts of individuals!! They Have Hiking, and Biking, Skiing and sledding, beer, and wine. Shhhh… don’t tell anyone. Galena Lodge is a gem. From the “primitive” yurts … to the amazing single track… to the tasty meals … to the wagon wheel dessert and ice cream. It’s a place to visit and cherish.
The food was great, but a bit expensive, which I would expect. There are great trails to snowshoe and cross-country ski. If you haven't been there you should go. The area is beautiful.
